Convenient Conservation

Saturday Ryan did some needed trimming in the back yard. He did a good job, but was most proud of a big branch he'd removed. I was fine with its removal but was a little surprised that he would tackle that job because cutting it up for disposal might take 40 minutes.
Two days later, everything else has been cleaned up but not the branch. Last night I asked when he planned to do it and he reported that his plan was to burn it. When Kara and I vetoed that idea he said his other idea was to let it naturally decay and return to the earth. He said we just needed to be patient - the sun and rain would take care of it. We are OK with that plan as long as he helps the process by cutting it up, putting it in yard waste bags, and it can decay elsewhere. So far today his Plan B is still at work (with only 50+ years to go).
