This season, Natalie’s volleyball are held at Frisco’s dazzling and spacious new Fieldhouse. Picture this: 12 full-size basketball courts all with retractable standards and volleyball nets. State-of-the-art scoreboards too. Usually only half the courts are holding volleyball games so it seems cavernous.
But not today.
Today only two volleyball games were going on and the other 10 courts were devoted to a huge basketball tournament.
A lot of people there had to be from out of town because (1) many had to park farther away than most Frisco neighborhoods and (2) Frisco’s population is only 100,000. Besides, there was a poster saying "Western Hemisphere Championships."
Seriously though, it was bedlam in there today. I figured that ten games meant twenty teams, which is what? 160-180 players plus coaches. I think the league required every player to have a minimum of six dedicated fans, three of which must be clinically obese. So by my rough calculations, today we shared the facility with over 100 tons of humans. I was glad when Nat’s team won in straight sets so I could get our 250 lbs out of there!
