Sighting

I was visiting with a friend for a few minutes last night at the church. Dozens of kids walked past us, but one caught my eye. It was an almost 12-year-old girl with long, dark brown hair in two braids. It was my Natalie and instinctively I said, “Hey!” She stopped and turned, looked at me and said, “Yeah?”

.

Her eyes are so beautiful and her face is so perfect. I do not know why I called out to her. If feelings could find words easily I would have said, “You mean the world to me and my love for you is as deep as any father ever felt for his daughter and just the sight of you brings me joy.” But I didn’t say that. I couldn’t think that fast and it may have been a little awkward. So I just said, “You are pretty.” She smiled and went on her way.
