Better Harvesting

Last summer my daughter introduced me to the world of FarmTown on Facebook. It was kind of fun for a while. I justified the time I spent doing it as something we could discuss, and she seemed pleased when I logged in as her and worked her land.

By the fall, she had completely lost interest but I was still going strong. I was accumulating a lot of FarmTown coin. I wasn’t saving for anything in particular; I just wanted to see how big I could make the number. My sister-in-law once told me that she had bought everything she wanted and still had 1.5 million coins. At the time, I probably had 30,000. I was determined to surpass 1.5 million. When I passed 10 million I showed my niece, who was incredulous.

I was almost to 13 million when I learned about the need for volunteers to help digitalize old hand-written census records, mostly 100 years old. I have not planted another square of cyber seeds since. In fact, I bought 12 mansions at a million coins each to formally mark my withdrawal from the game. Now I don't know if I could ever do 13 million names, but I hope I can spend as much time indexing as I did cyber farming!

Cool. Great choice.

Good for you. I'm over cyber farming as well, but I think I only did it for a week. Instead of indexing I'm going to start actually cleaning my house, feeding my kids and changing out of my pajamas every day.
