Today is my wife’s birthday. The kids and I got her some gifts, but they weren’t great. We think the world of her, but she is kind of though to buy for. Anything that she wants (that we can afford), she buys, so there is not much left. I think she judges my gifts on how easily returnable they are.
Also, there are so many gift-giving occasions: Christmas, birthday, and anniversary every year. Throw in Valentines, Easter, and Mothers Day and that is six times a year. We’ve been married for 20 years so that is 120 separate occasions! I think I did a great job on #57 and #83. And maybe #6 too.

You are not lame. Gift giving is hard, especially when you share a bank account with the person.
I always like gift cards... I know they don't feel personal, but they are awesome to me! Most girls like shopping.
