Bad Habits

Over the last two months, I have become immersed in the world of blogging. I had been exposed to blogs of a few friends, but I was little more than a periodic “lurker.” Now that I maintain my own, visit several blogs daily, I have found that I sometimes exhibit bad blogging etiquette, classified under the following headers:

Train robber – This is the opposite of a Lurker. This is when instead of commenting on the post, you add your own story in the comments section. I have done that more times than I care to admit, and I offer this article as an apology

Schizo – This relates to commenting on your own posts, especially before anyone else does. If you have more to say, you can edit the post rather than have a conversation with yourself.

Fisherman – Fishing for compliments can take many forms, but it is never a good thing. I try not to do this. I shouldn’t look to my blog for validation.

What else? What have you done or seen? Blogging is a relatively new communications tool and I would be interested to learn the do's and don'ts sooner rather than later.

I just robbed your train on the next post. I like when people can offer something that relates though.

Fishing is annoying but almost unavoidable. Your intentions could be purely to share a story and be perceived as fishing. I never think about that one.

Schizo- you know this is something I find comical so I am cool with this one as well.

These are rules I try not to break-

-Assumed linking- Putting someone on my links without asking. What if they don't want to be claimed as my friend.

-Cramming- Cramming my kids down people's throats. Telling to many 'my kids are the cutest stories'. This is a toughie for me because my kids ARE the cutest.

-Roping- Roping peoples lives into my blog without permission. I have to be careful of that one especially with my family. My kids didn't ask for this. So far though they are so self absorbed that they are begging me to post about them.

I like "stories in comments" too, but I probably do it too much. You are not a fisher.

Rachel - that was the longest comment I've ever seen.

Long yet necessary.

I have a friend who tends to be a bit of a train robber...not a story teller in a good way. It has been a little bit annoying to mebut I love her anyway. I would say more about how she robs exactly but don't want to rob anything here. :)

Not to be schizo or anything but I was just thinking about my comment and I am now wondering if what I said was okay?
Are my comments okay?

Not that I am fishing or anything...
