Favorites

This evening Natalie asked me my favorite color, and she said I can’t say “The color of your eyes.” She knows me well. OK then, purple. A few minutes later she asked “What is your favorite shape?” No one has ever asked me that before. Favorite shape? I don’t know. What do you base that on? I’ve always kind of liked to word “dodecahedron” but the shape does nothing for me. Rhombus? Parallelogram? I like the heart shape, and Kara’s shape, but I knew she wouldn’t allow these, so I just said, “triangle.” Then she asked why. What is this? 20 questions? “Because it has three sides.” (Pultorak’s Geometry finally pays off.) This appeased her and shortly thereafter I got a lovely card featuring many purple triangles. I love having a 9-year-old.
