The NFL draft is this weekend. On the local sports talk radio show yesterday was a local kid (from the poorer section of town) that went to Baylor and is expected to be an early first-round pick. The radio guy said that this player would likely get $30 million in guaranteed money, give or take, and asked what would be the player’s first purchase. He said, “An insurance policy on my body, in case something happens.” So he’s thinking about the non-guaranteed part of his contract. I thought that was a pretty good answer. Radio man pressed on, “Then what?”
“Well, I need to pay off my truck.”
I now have a favorite player. Isn’t that the best?
