The other evening I tried a little experiment. Starting with one of my family member’s blog, I navigated to twenty or thirty successive blogs following links. My goal was to find someone I knew, either from my mission or BYU or somewhere. It didn’t work. Even within the church, it is a big world. Also, I never knew how many people are bloggers, and I didn’t link to a single non-LDS site. I was impressed by the wide variety of designs, etc but was somewhat humored by the homogeneity. Here is the average blogging profile (always written by the wife):
Josh and Brandi: Josh and I have been married for seven years and have two wonderful children, Caden (5) and Chloe (2). As you can see on this [freakish] fetal growth link, we are 168 days from having our third child: Coryantmur, with a “y.” [And a '"c"] We are fun-loving and outgoing. We like doing fun and outgoing things. We like dogs and picnics and chocolate and ice cream.
There are lots of pics of the kids and an expectant Brandi. Rascal Flatts or U2 is playing in the background. Seriously, I’m not making fun of anyone, and rest assured that I navigated far away from anyone’s friends and family. It’s just amazing that almost all of them (dozens and dozens) are maintained by a young LDS mother that has been married between 5 and 7 years. And she’s blonde. (I realize that I have a sister-in-law in California that fits this description, but if she has a blog, I don’t know about it.) I didn’t find one maintained by the husband, much less by a balding brunette dude in his 40's (that is not expecting). None. I feel so special. (Wait, I did see that!)

1. This is why we love you!!
2. Check out the link on Sara's blog that has something to do with mormon husbands or something. He's pretty darn funny.
3. We've tried the same experiment and have always found people we know. It's amazing.
