Ryan went to Six Flags amusement park today. I thought about him a lot because it was so cold out, in the forties I think. Tonight he was all grins as apparently the cool weather kept the masses home and he enjoyed very short lines. He told me that he and his pals rode “Titan” 20 times in a row.
20 times?! Is a roller coaster still fun after that many consecutive rides?
He said, “No. Not so much. Once we hit double digits it was no longer fun, but we had told ourselves that we would ride it at least 20 times.”
I think the frostbite was a downer too, but a goal is a goal, right? He then shared one of life’s little lessons, “If you do anything too much, it isn’t fun anymore.” (In economics, this is called the law of diminishing marginal returns, by the way.) For him, exceptions to this rule include pizza and texting.
So, the next time you’re stuck in a long line at an amusement park, consider that you are keeping it fun. And enjoy your warm face.

Ain't it just like a teen to follow through with something even though they realize it isn't a good idea anymore? I remember having that mentality.
It had to be the cold, if not, he'd have gone another 20. Gaurantee'd.
A couple of years ago, I let my inner high school out and rode the Steel Eel 17 times. I must admit, I thought that the 17 times on the Steel Eel was a record. Jordan and I couldn't get enough, and we wanted more, but the park was closing.
