Pitch Man

A few weeks ago Ryan asked if we could do his friend a favor. This friend, that we didn’t know, was beginning a new sales job and wanted to “practice” his presentation on us. (Yeah, I’ve heard that one before.) Kara obliged without even asking what he was selling – it wasn’t for us anyway, right? The kid came over and whipped out his Cutco knives. He asked Kara to hold one and tell him what it felt like. She said, “It feels exactly like a knife I already own.” (A Christmas gift from years ago; they really are good knives.) The presentation came to a screeching halt. The kid didn’t know what to say to this and abruptly ended. I am thinking that maybe, just maybe, the whole “practice” thing was just a line to get an audience.

I've been at customers when I've felt like ending with a screeching halt.

Funny!
