Pondering

When I lie awake at night, before the slumber comes

I could think of anything, like trivia, quotients and sums.

I could think about the Angels and their pennant chances,

I could think about the stock market and of personal finances.

I could think about my next lesson, gotta be thorough,

Or cyber farming, the harvest, seeds and furrow

I could think about my diet and the foods I do not eat,

I could think about tomorrow’s dinner; better thaw the meat

I could think about shoes, and accessories and fancy new clothes,

But I don’t.  But I think about blogging and mentally compose!

I could think about faraway places: Tokyo, Paris, Rome

But I always end up thinking about a little girl from Texas who’s awfully far from home.
