I had some friends come to town this weekend for the BYU game. It was fun to see them. We met at their resort-sized hotel where we ate lunch in an enormous restaurant/sports bar. From where I was seated I thin I could see 90 televisions. Almost everyone was wearing BYU gear or OU gear. I hadn’t thought about it but was glad I wore a navy shirt by chance. The scarlet and cream people outnumbered the blue and gold folk by four to one.
Anyway, being in such a charged setting got me even more excited for the big game. When I paid $100 for a ticket (for my son) I had some misgivings, but as the game drew near, I was very glad that he could go.
5:50 p.m. – Ryan arrives to his seat
5:51 p.m. – Ryan calls us in utter amazement over the 60 yard long TV
5:52 p.m. – Kara is trying to figure out how we can get a 61 yard long TV
Just kidding. But seriously, Ryan was overjoyed to be at the game, and when he came home we re-lived the whole thing with him. He thanked us repeatedly. He is “dyed-in-the-wool” BYU. I told him that not only does his sister attend now, his parents both went there and his grandparents, five uncles and four aunts.
