Kara set up a Wells Fargo account in Provo for Amanda. Since there is an ATM and a branch on campus, this seemed like a good idea. This week I accessed the account on-line to see how to transfer her monthly allowance from our Bank of America account. Can’t; only transfers between WF accounts.
Fine, I’ll just go to the local WF drive-up ATM (I have a card) and deposit a check. No big deal. But the ATM machine only gave me withdrawal options. Fine, I’ll just go inside and use a teller. She has me fill out a deposit slip. Seriously? As I was filling it out I ask about how to transfer funds on-line. She confirms that they only do inner-bank transfers BUT I could open a WF checking account and then it would be simple.
OK, Traci with an “i”, but how do I get money into my WF checking? This stumped her. I still have the same problem. She glanced down at the deposit slip. I glanced at her calendar to make sure I hadn’t just dreamed it was 2009.
She referred me to a banker for the complex funding enigma. I learned two things: I’m glad I don’t use WF as my main account and loading silver dollars onto Utah-bound pack mules might be my best option.
p.s. we actually did come up with a way to possibly move the funds electronically from the BofA side and it turns out that my WF ATM card isn't really an ATM card. Amanda has that. It is a WF credit card; that's why I couldn't deposit.

We left Well's Fargo a long time ago and never looked back.
