Keep the Change

This evening Natalie discovered and old coin bank in my study. She is saving up for a phone and asked if she could have the piggy contents. “Sure” I told her; it was just a bunch of pennies. She emptied the bank, counted the coins (some silver), and returned to the study announcing that there was $5.04. Wow. I would have guessed less than a dollar. She then asked me if I could give her a five-spot for them.

“You're selling me something that I just gave to you?” I asked.

She said, “Not really selling, more like exchanging. But because you’re my daddy and I love you I’m giving you a discount!”

I see a bright future for her ... like that of Bernard Madoff's!
