Today I found myself in a fortunate circumstance: I was in a booth eating ice cream with two of my youngest nephews and my 3-year old niece. Her rose-colored top matched her ice cream, which she was enjoying. I asked, “Tallia, what flavor did you get?” She looked at me quizzically and simply answered, “Pink.”
Amanda soon joined us. All day long she has been trying to make sure 3-year-old Bryce knew everyone’s name. He did very well this time as Amanda pointed to various people: “Tallia” “Uncle David” “Erika” Then Amanda pointed to herself and Bryce ventured “Becky?”
A few minutes later Tallia pointed to a large inflated killer whale and asked, “Uncle David, is that a dolphin or a shark?”
I love 3-year-olds.
