I rarely post anything on Facebook, especially not my status. Until recently the status box teaser question was “What are you doing right now?” My answer is always the same: “Looking at my monitor.” My friends are apparently better at multitasking as they are playing the piano or painting their nails or harvesting bell peppers. I promise that if I harvest anything while Facebooking, I’ll report it. (Or if I paint my nails.)
When I see that my children have posted updates, I am always eager to see what they said. After I read most of their updates, I ask them to unload the dishwasher or something. Here are their top 5 most common status updates:
- I’m bored; goin crazy
- Gonna get a Slurpee
- Nothin to do; goin to the mall later
- Twiddlin my thumbs
- Shoppin for a book on finishin my participles
Pat, Can I buy a G please? I don’t know why the kids feel it is important to type semi-phonetically. I’m goin to ask them. I guess that's what I get for raisin kids in Texas.

I will bet number 5 is just as common (or uncommon) as some of our "what they really meant to say" status in bear lake.
"I'm bored." =
"If you have something to do, tell me, but I do not want to think of anything to do or talk to anyone in specific. That would be far too inventive." :)
What a hilarious post, Dave.
