Of Counting

With Kara out of town last week, and the kids’ myriad activities, we haven't dined together much.  Kara returned Saturday and Sunday night as we sat down to dinner Ryan said, "We're all together again."  I immediately corrected him, "No we're not."

Meaning no disrespect he said, "Well, not counting her."

I said, "But she always counts."

Later as the five of us knelt for prayer I felt as though someone were missing. Someone was.

I think this will be the longest semester of my life.
