Credit

I think “Good Credit” is overrated. I mean, it is good to have it, but I think it should be the natural result of your frugality, promptness in bill-paying, etc., not so much a goal in and of itself. I hear radio spots for companies that say they can repair your credit. What does that mean? They won’t pay your bills for you. What is the service? Calling creditors and asking for a settlement or clemency? What if you have them do whatever they do, and then stiff them? Do they report that to the credit bureaus? I bet they require cash up front, in which case you have even less money to pay your bills. And what is the first thing you are going to do with good credit? Buy stuff, which will probably ruin your credit. Want to fix your credit? Here’s a tip: live within your means and pay your bills on time. Wild idea, huh?
