Ownership

So Ryan was at a work party last week and some kids started playing “Rock Band.” After a while he asked if he could try lead vocals on a song. The kids laughed, figuring it was a joke. He does not give off “choir boy” even though he is. I think he is more of a “class clown” type. The cool, muscular, a little edgy kind of funny guy. I think. Anyway, they gave him the mike, and in his words he said, “Dad. I owned it.” (I think that means he did fabulously.) The kids weren’t laughing anyone.

“Dude. You totally owned that. We thought you were just messin’ with us.”

I love that he has that talent, he doesn’t wear it on his sleeve, and is unafraid to whip it out.

I remember once about 5 years ago (?) I was singing Bring Him Home to myself (trying to be quiet about it) at your parent's house while you all where there. I didn't think anyone was listening. When I finished, Ryan dropped whatever game he was playing with his cousins and ran up and gave me a huge hug. He complimented me very sincerely and enthusiastically on my "performance." That remains one of my favorite compliments. That boy obviously loves music, and I love that.
Sorry for the novel.
