This afternoon Kara and I attended Wakeland High’s pep rally, because Amanda’s drill team was performing. There was plenty of pep generated; it was very loud. I am getting old. It was strange that everything was orange and blue, rather than green and gold, and when they sang the school song, they didn’t begin with “O Royal High School Highlanders.”
The band played several customary “jock rock” tunes and then, really underscoring my age, they started playing “My Sharona.” Seriously? They’re doing The Knack? Last time I was at a pep rally there was probably at least one kid there that had that song on a cassette in his Camaro. And he probably had a mullet.
The drill team did well, by the way.
